Q. When can I make changes to my benefits plan?
A. Changes to your benefits can be made during Montgomery County’s Annual Open Enrollment Period or within 30 days of a Qualifying Life Event, pending the appropriate documentation (this includes health, dental, FSA medical, and supplemental life).Q. What is considered a Qualifying Life Event?
A. Qualifying Life Events include but are not limited to: marriage, divorce, birth or adoption of a child, death of a dependent, loss or gain of coverage due to a change in spouse’s employment, or spouse’s open enrollment.Q. How long is my dependent child eligible for?
A. Your unmarried dependent child(ren) are covered until age 19. Your unmarried full-time student is eligible until age 24 as long as they are enrolled as full-time students at a high school or institute of higher learning. Non-full-time students ages 19 to 22 will be benefits eligible only if they meet the IRS qualified dependent criteria.Q. Is my disabled dependent eligible for coverage?
A. Yes, regardless of age. However, Aetna requires a form to be completed by the
employee and a separate form to be completed by the dependent’s doctor. If you have already completed
this process with Anthem, that information will be transferred to Aetna and you will not be required to file any additional forms. If you have not completed this process before, call Aetna at 1-800-348-3666 and they will mail you the appropriate forms.
