Medical Options Montgomery County’s medical coverage is administered by Aetna (Open Choice PPO). When choosing your benefits, keep in mind that your portion of the medical, dental and flexible spending account coverage is automatically payroll-deducted using your pre-tax dollars, providing you a significant tax break. You have three options regarding the County’s medical coverage: Enhanced Plan The Enhanced Plan is a PPO plan that provides comprehensive coverage at moderate payroll deduction and coinsurance costs. Under this option, deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums are lower than the Value Plan and there are specific co-pays for doctor office visits and prescription drugs. This plan is for those who want a higher level of coverage with higher payroll deductions. Monthly Employee Payroll Deductions Employee Only: $44.00 * Employee + One: $88.00 * Family: $138.00 * *May vary based on county agency and/or union affiliation. Value Plan The Value Plan offers a different option with significantly lower payroll deductions. Because the Value Plan has higher deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums, it works best in conjunction with your Healthcare Flexible Spending Account (FSA). You can use this account to help cover these potentially higher out-of-pocket expenses (see Eligible Expenses). If you choose the Value Plan, the County will match your healthcare FSA contributions dollar for dollar, up to the first $500 you put in. So, you can get additional money from the County to help meet your expenses – and save money on both taxes and payroll deductions. Waive - Selecting No Coverage You have the option to waive Montgomery County’s medical coverage if you have medical benefits elsewhere. These amounts can be used to offset the cost of your other coverage. If you are covered under any Montgomery County medical plan either as an employee, a dependent, or a spouse, you will not be eligible to receive the waiver.
